Support & FAQs
Barham Software

All of our software is either shareware of freeware. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to evaluate software before buying it. Following the try-before-you-buy concept, all of our shareware has an evaluation period during which time you can use the software without obligation.

Many of the most common questions users have could be solved simply by checking the application's helpfile. If that fails, this website should be the next line of support. Below are links to the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) for our products. Additional information will be added as it becomes available.

If you can't find your answer after searching the helpfile and this website, feel free to contact us at: support@barhamsoftware.com.

Univerter FAQ

Q: Why is Univerter case sensitive?

A: Many of the internationally approved units abbreviations and prefixes are specified as case sensitive. This is necessary to distiguish m(milli) from M(mega), for example. When looking for matches, Univerter gives precedence to capitalization. So, "St" would be assumed to be " Stokes" as opposed to "stere". However, "FT" would be equated to "ft" since there are no alternate case-sensitive matches in the default database.

Q: I don't like your abbreviations. What can I do?

A: In addition to the "official" abbreviation for each unit, Univerter allows 6 additional variations. You can add or modify alternate abbreviations as you wish.

Q: Univerter idicates that the base units of my equation/constant are 'x' when I was expecting 'z'. What's up?

A: Univerter determines the base units / units-group of an input by breaking it down into the base SI units. So both modulus of elasticity and barometric pressure would break down to "kg /(m * s^2)".

PropSheet FAQ

Q: PropSheet is shareware. What does that mean?

A: Shareware distribution gives users a chance to evaluate software before buying it. Following the try-before-you-buy concept, Propsheet has a 30-day evaluation period during which time you can use the software without obligation. PropSheet is presented as "What-you-see-is-what-you-get" -- use the 30-day trial period to decide if you like it.

Q: How much are you going to charge for updates?

A: Minor updates will be free. Only if major improvements are made will there be a minimal upgrade fee for registered users.

Q: I have some really great ideas for PropSheet. Will you add them for me?

A: Maybe. It will depend on the complexity and the potential for increasing the future value of PropSheet.

Q: I can't get PropSheet to work, who do I call for support?

A: Sorry, only email support is provided.

Q: Why can't I set density for weldment files?

A: Currently Solid Edge itself does not allow reading the density value for a weldment file through automation (i.e. programming). Until this is fixed in the Solid Edge programming interface, PropSheet will ignore density values set for weldments.

Q: Part Highlighting is acting strange. What's up with that?

A: Part Highlighting uses the Solid Edge programming interface to simulate manually "selecting" all instances of a part or assembly. Due to a bug in the Solid Edge programming interface (or in PropSheet), the highlighted selections will often appear in the wrong locations. Since I could not pinpoint the cause of this bug, I had two choices: remove the buggy feature, or leave it in and caution users. I chose the latter since the feature is still fairly useful and the bug itself is harmless.
